An eco-designed locker for a more flexible, responsible space

Since 2014, the Morning team has been creating workspaces, along with everything that goes with them. As part of our work, we have developed a range of eco-designed furniture. In 2022, the catalogue includes a number of pieces: a desk, a chest, meeting tables and a locker with plenty going for it. So many pieces that furnish our spaces but are also offered to any outside organisation.
An essential feature of our workspaces, the locker is designed to meet the flexibility demands tied to the way we work today. What is more, its eco-design takes environmental issues into account and gives the workspace a more responsible dimension.

A mobile, modular locker,
For a more flexible working environment

The locker is a real asset in terms of layout and practicality. Made from oak laminate, it is highly resistant to moisture and to the wear of time. Its ergonomic design and modular structure allow it to blend seamlessly into its surroundings.

Meeting the new demands of flexible working

The Morning locker is in fact a set of individual compartments giving everyone the chance to store their personal and professional belongings. Each compartment can hold an A4 document upright, a rucksack or a motorbike helmet. A badge lock for single-compartment locking is built into the locker. All these features in fact serve one purpose: to let everyone practise flex office as easily as possible. Today’s ways of working are moving in that direction. Assigned desks are on the decline, and workers now choose their workstation according to needs that vary over the course of the day.

With a secure, mobile and adaptable locker, every member of staff can work “light”. In early 2022, Clément Alteresco – Morning’s founder – sent an email to his team that spoke volumes about how important this piece of furniture is: “If you leave your seat for more than 15 minutes, you must free up your workstation.  No bags or other personal belongings on the table. To store them, there are lockers everywhere”.

For arranging the workspace however you like

Beyond its practical side, the eco-designed locker is a genuine piece of interior architecture. Mobile and modular, it is perfect for reorganising your space. The back is carefully finished to make the locker a partitioning and decorative feature in its own right.
To integrate it fully into the layout of the space, the eco-designed locker can serve several functions. Its structure can accommodate a wardrobe area or a “display box” for arranging objects and plants of all kinds.  Only the locker’s iron frame is then on show. Its white finish fits perfectly into the surroundings.

An eco-designed piece of furniture,
For creating a more responsible workspace

Originally, the pieces in the Morning catalogue had a twofold aim: to meet the demands of the working world and to contribute to the look of our spaces. The challenges of our era have imposed a third aim on them: to have a minimal environmental impact. Like the desk, the locker is part of an eco-design approach.

Responsible components that can be (dis)assembled endlessly

All the parts of the locker are independent. This feature means the furniture can be easily dismantled and repaired. With each part able to be replaced separately, the locker gains in longevity. What is more, the 100% steel frame is also demountable and endlessly recyclable. Another point in its favour: worn badge locks will be given a second life and enter the recycling stream for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

Furniture Made in France, materials of European origin

The eco-designed locker is made and assembled in France by the company REVILOX, based in Marines, in the Val d’Oise. The melamine oak-laminate panels are of French origin. The assembly parts are all of European origin. The castors, iron dowels and cam housings come from Germany, and the hinges from Italy. The importance we place on European sourcing allows us to take good care of the locker’s carbon footprint. Today, the team’s designers are working on other levers to improve it further. More than a third of the badge locks will be replaced with wooden handles, and the large lockers now have a double module, bigger and more spacious.
