Morning joins B Corp, the community of committed companies

The international certification distinguishing companies that meet social, environmental and societal standards has recently been secured by Morning. This certification, awarded by B LabTM France in October 2022, reflects the work carried out by the team since the very start of the adventure. Squarely in its sights: meeting the highest standards for social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. By joining the B Corp movement, Morning sees its HR policy and its CSR strategy rewarded. A certification that also marks the birth of promising future projects for office design.

Morning earns B Corp certification,
Joining 240 companies in France

This demanding certification brings together companies around the world working towards a better future. It is earned through scoring, against very specific criteria set by B-LabTM, the certifying organisation.

A certification aimed at the players shaping the world of tomorrow

Since 2006, the B Corp philosophy has been to encourage companies to be better for the world. This international movement brings together 5,900 companies, including 240 in France. The certification is awarded to companies recognised as beneficial to the world while remaining profitable.
To achieve this, the organisation has devised new environmental, social, governance and transparency standards.

Scoring across 5 key pillars

To earn B Corp certification, companies are assessed across 5 pillars:

Employees: Placing employee wellbeing at the heart of the company’s concerns. The assessment takes into account engagement and satisfaction levels, as well as employees’ health, financial security and career development.

Corporate governance: Putting transparency, ethics and organisation at the heart of management. The questions range from employee engagement to the company’s mission, taking in finances along the way.

Community: Assessing the company’s impact on its community, as well as the diversity and inclusion it promotes.

The environment: Measuring how the company manages water, waste, biodiversity and its energy consumption, all of which have environmental consequences. For a meaningful assessment, the B Corp questions are tailored to the sector of activity.

Customers: Managing your customers well and being beneficial to them as a company is a key lever in a sound CSR strategy.

Morning posts a total of 81.5 points on the international standard, accessible via the online tool: the B Impact Assessment. With this total achieved, efforts across the various areas must be maintained and pursued in order to keep this precious label at the next assessment, which will take place in 3 years’ time.

Employee wellbeing at the heart of HR policy,
To help everyone thrive

Quality of life at work and employee fulfilment have always been key subjects at the company. The certification rewards the way teams are managed, which is very much aligned with this.

Wellbeing at work at the heart of management

Morning’s early days were marked by a strong commitment from Clément Alteresco (CEO) and Marie Barbier (HR Director) to employee wellbeing. This commitment from the leadership team is being rewarded today, with company culture and employee benefits playing an important part in the B Corp scoring.
Another important criterion tipped the scales: the principle of shared governance, thanks to the sharing of the company’s capital with employees.

B Corp as a reward for the investment and a signpost to projects to come

For Clément Alteresco, B Corp certification is the culmination of a fine journey that will spark fresh momentum, rich with many projects: “This is only the beginning of the voyage! Morning intends to take its ideas even further. It’s part of our philosophy: “Tomorrow? We’re working on it”. This mantra pushes us to question ourselves constantly so we can progress and find new ways, every day, to reduce the impact of our business”.

A CSR team committed from the outset,
To put environmental and social issues centre stage

Aware of the ecological and social influence of its business, Morning has been putting measures in place to reduce its impact over the past few years. It was in this spirit that the team set up the “impact” division in June 2021.

More responsible workspaces

In France, buildings are responsible for 30% of greenhouse gas emissions, making them the 2nd most polluting sector in the country.
Faced with this reality, Morning has set itself the mission of designing more responsible workspaces. The aim is to carry the world of work forward by placing environmental and societal impact at the heart of our actions.

For several years now, various measures have been moving in this direction: waste management, energy assessments of the spaces, the creation of more sustainable spaces by selecting eco-conscious suppliers and materials, second-hand. Today, our positive-impact strategy is driven by several initiatives  :
End of 2021 and end of 2022: first carbon assessments of the spaces carried out
February 2022: launch of the eco-designed office furniture range (following a call for projects from ADEME)
October 2022: launch of the Accelerator for sustainable fit-out projects.

A committed social responsibility

For Morning, social impact is a key lever of influence as a player in the world of work. From its earliest days, the company has established small rituals and good practices in the office to engage employees all the more. The main good practices: introducing a supplier charter, rallying the community of Morning members around impact-driven projects, showcasing service providers, materials sourcing, and so on.
