Minute Morning: Graine d’Orateur, a member at Morning Gallieni

“Graine d’Orateur is a project whose aim is to make the art of public speaking a catalyst for success, particularly for young people from working-class backgrounds”, Greazi Abira, co-founder of the association, tells us.

Graine d’Orateur are our members at Morning Gallieni. The association works mainly in schools and socio-cultural organisations to run public-speaking workshops. Alongside this, the organisation offers a training programme one Saturday a month in Bondy, which young people can sign up to and train in the art of public speaking.

After studying at the Lycée Jean Renoir in Bondy, Greazi went on to Sciences Po Paris alongside other classmates from his school. He points out: “It was at a grande école that I discovered and practised the art of public speaking – before realising that the ones who need it most are the pupils at my old school. With my friends, we wanted to have an impact on our own scale and change things, and to offer this teaching to the students of Jean Renoir”.

Little by little, the association spread from Bondy to the whole of Seine-Saint-Denis, then to the whole of the Ile-de-France, then to very nearly the whole of France. “On 13 April 2023, Graine d’Orateur organised, jointly with Morning, a public-speaking contest at Morning Laffitte. The aim: to create a government and an opposition, both fictional, to stage a parliamentary debate around a bill on employment”. A wonderful project to bring members together around themes linked to work, all with great eloquence!
