4 concrete solutions to re-engage your teams

According to the Boson Project study The new conditions of engagement, with only 7% of employees engaged in France, a 41% rise in absenteeism and a 5.2% drop in productivity between 2019 and 2023, our relationship with work is changing profoundly. These figures invite us to rethink our approach to engagement. Here we share a summary of the study's findings, with:
- the three key dimensions (social, collective and personal) that are transforming the world of work today,
- the concrete solutions for creating a professional environment where everyone can find their place.

Three areas of work to change our relationship with work

Rethinking career progression

Career paths are changing: whereas it took 15 years to double one's income between 1950 and 1970, it now takes 70*. This shift, highlighted by Antoine Foucher, invites us to reinvent professional trajectories. The OECD shows that it currently takes six generations to move from the minimum wage to the median income. An opportunity to rethink our models of professional development and to imagine new paths for progression.

Reinventing the collective at work

The rise of remote work and the transformation of ways of collaborating are prompting us to rethink the social bond within the company. How can we create a sense of the collective in this new context? At Morning, we are trying out concrete answers. The "expert" workshops, for example, create spaces for exchange where every member of staff, whatever their status, can share their expertise and enrich the collective.

Bringing professional and personal life into balance

77% of parents are looking for a better balance between their professional and personal lives. Between family responsibilities and commuting time, a new model of organisation is becoming necessary. Morning is exploring innovative solutions, notably through its parenthood policy. Our article "Parenthood in the workplace: there's still work to do!" sets out these concrete initiatives that help everyone to balance their various responsibilities more effectively.

4 focus areas to build engagement within the company

Sustainable employment

It is no longer simply a matter of "getting through" the working day, but of thriving in it. That comes down to an organisation that respects everyone's rhythms. At Morning, we try to put this into practice through a flexible approach to work and by paying attention to our staff's mental health. If this subject interests you, by the way, here are 5 tips for boosting your company's mental health with Gilles Meyer

Empowering work

Continuous learning and personal development must once again become central. For example, "expert workshops" can be set up, where each member of staff can share their expertise and learn from their peers. This approach makes it possible to value internal talent while creating opportunities for progression.

A unifying collective

In an increasingly fragmented world of work, rebuilding connections is becoming crucial. That comes down to workspaces redesigned to encourage interaction, as our various Morning spaces demonstrate, but also to team rituals that give meaning to the collective. To take our approach all the way, we introduced employee share ownership in 2020: all our employees who wished to, that is 70 of them, were able to buy Morning shares and become partners.

A worthwhile mission

Engagement cannot exist without meaning. Companies must today demonstrate their social and environmental usefulness. At Morning, this is reflected for example in our B Corp commitment, which certifies our positive impact on society.

And where to start?

Faced with these findings, which are by no means inevitable, it is our responsibility to bring about new positive narratives around work. This involves:

  1. Rethinking the organisation of work in depth
  2. Investing in skills development
  3. Creating spaces and moments that foster the collective
  4. Giving meaning through impactful projects

Engagement is not dead; it is simply waiting to be given fresh momentum. And you, how are you reinventing engagement in your organisation?
