Solidarity workstations for jobseekers

In February 2022, a study conducted by Pôle Emploi revealed that 5 million French people were actively looking for work. To support these people in their job search – which lasts on average between 6 months and a year – an initiative called Solid’Office was launched in November 2015.

Solid’Office is a non-profit association that provides access to coworking spaces at lower cost for jobseekers. To make this happen, Solid’Office has teamed up with Morning, which provides workstations located in 5 coworking spaces in Paris and its inner suburbs. To manage applications and run its community, Solid’Office works with the association COJOB (short for “Collectif Jobeurs”). This three-way set-up makes it possible to offer jobseekers a stimulating professional environment to break out of their isolation, open up their network and build their skills.

An initiative to speed up the job search,
With no selection criteria!

All jobseekers can take advantage of the Solid’Office scheme to benefit from a workstation at preferential rates within a coworking space, regardless of their field of activity or qualifications. Those interested apply directly to Solid’Office by filling in the registration form. The COJOB collective then gathers the applications before Morning and the other partners take over. “There are no selection criteria; the only prerequisite is that the beneficiary is looking for work but is not setting up a business”, explains Lucie Delemotte, director of COJOB.

COJOB is also responsible for running the Solid’Office community. Lucie Delemotte “onboards” jobseekers into the spaces and keeps them informed about the meet-ups and events organised to speed up their return to work.

For Nathalie Robin, vice-president of the association, “jobseekers need the energy generated by meeting people, the sharing of skills and the professional network present in coworking spaces”. These places offer a meeting point that is essential to building a new professional network.

Solid’Officers have access to solidarity nomad workstations at reduced prices, namely €54 incl. VAT per month per workstation, for a maximum of 6 months. They have access to the same services as all the other occupants of the space: internet, shared facilities (kitchens, lounges, etc.), open space, and so on.

In all, Morning provides 35 workstations across 5 spaces, distributed as follows:

• 7 workstations at Morning Monceau (Paris 8)
• 6 workstations at Morning Sembat (Boulogne 92)
• 10 workstations at Morning Gallieni (Bagnolet 93)
• 6 workstations at Morning Balard (Paris 15)
• 6 workstations at Morning Neuilly CDG (Neuilly 92200)

“The spaces located in central Paris are the most popular. The workstations offered at Morning Monceau are frequently occupied”, explains Virginie de Labarre, Morning manager of the Gallieni space and partnership lead.

On arriving at a Morning space, the Solid’Officer is welcomed by the person in charge of the venue, who connects them with other residents. The aim is to introduce them to people working in the sector they wish to move into. “We also encourage members of the programme to get involved in the life of their space for half a day a month, notably in organising events. This way they can meet people through their space and talk about their project and their search”, points out Virginie.
With a current community of 19 Solid’Officers hosted at Morning, half of the workstations are still up for grabs. Calling all comers!
